Maria Friberg Autumn Shows

Maria Friberg | Sweden

The Bonnier Gallery is delighted to share that Swedish artist Maria Friberg has three upcoming shows in Sweden this fall, not to be missed.

1

Nästan där / Almost There

Thielska Galleriet, Stockholm

September 16, 2023 - March 3, 2024

For the exhibition Almost There, the Thiel Gallery has invited Maria Friberg, one of Sweden’s most internationally famous artists, to create a dialogue between her practice and the Gallery’s collection. This collaboration is part of a major initiative to shine a contemporary light on the Thiel Gallery. Friberg was welcome to choose works from the collection created by Ernest and Signe Maria Thiel around the previous turn of the century, and to mirror them in a selection of her own photographs and video works.

The Thiel Gallery is recognized as one of the finest art museums in Sweden and is beautifully set in walled grounds at Blockhusudden in the royal park of Djurgården. The gallery houses a unique collection of works of art from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries by leading artists of the period

Under isen ligger himlen (Under the ice lies the sky)

Varbergs Konsthall, Varberg SE

September 23
Helena Blomquist and Maria Friberg

During the autumn, Varberg's art gallery presents the exhibition Under the ice lies the sky with the artists Helena Blomqvist and Maria Friberg.

In the exhibition Under the ice lies the sky, two artists meet who use the photographic medium in different ways. The focus is on man's relationship with nature and the animal kingdom. With a poetic look at the contemporary challenges of climate change and the environment, Helena Blomqvist and Maria Friberg search for the balance between hope and dystopia.
